Last Day of the AIS'16: Thank you!
Over 360 attendees made their way to Gaborone for the AIS'16 to attend almost two weeks worth of training, workshops, parallel meetings, plenaries, social events and networking opportunities.The Closing Ceremony saw Alan Barrett and Dr Nii Quaynor give a closing speech. Fiona Asonga from Tespok then presented the next location for AIS'17 in Nairobi, Kenya.
We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the AIS'16 successful. And we certainly couldn't have done it without our amazing host, BOCRA, and our generous partners and sponsors. We look forward to seeing you all next year in Kenya for the AIS'17.

Highlight of the Day: AGMM and Board Elections
AFRINIC Members and community observers gathered on 9th June at 14:00 for the AFRINIC Annual General Members' Meeting.
Elections for the open seats on the Board of Directors took place. The following candidates were elected by the Members:
- Sunday Folayan / Western Africa region
- Hytham El Nakhal / Northern Africa region
- Seun Ojedeji / Non geographical region

Highlight of the Day: Policy Day
Wednesday kicked off with the AIS'16 Policy Day. With a packed session and lots of policy proposals to discuss, the PDWG co-Chair Seun Ojedeji welcomed the attendees and gave an overview of the AFRINIC community policy development process and the day's agenda.

Highlight of the Day: Opening Ceremony
The AIS'16 Opening Ceremony took place on Monday 6 June at 17:00. Formally opened by HEM Minister of Transport and Communication HEM Tshenolo Mabeo, the session also saw speeches by the representatives of the AF*: Pierre Dandjinou (ICANN), Boubakar Barry (AfREN), Dr Nii Quaynor (AfNOG), Marcus Adomey (AfricaCERT), Ali Hadj (AfTLD), Raul Echeberria (ISOC), Alan Barrett (AFRINIC), and Thari G. Pheko (BOCRA).
The Opening Ceremony was followed by a Welcome Cocktail.

Highlights: AIS'16 Training Sessions
The AIS'16 sessions were held from 29 May - 6 June and offered a wealth of training courses, workshops, tutorials and panel discussions on topics including Cybersecurity, IPv6, RPKI, DNSSEC, infrastructure, monitoring, routing, CSIRT, App Development, Internet number resource management and more.
